Talk about good estimation: one lone sandwich and two packets of crisps (and lots of washing-up) were all the hungry hordes left!

- 6 July 2009: Proposal for new clubhouse "put on ice" for two years, due to Council scheme for park regeneration.
At a meeting of the Management Committee on 6th April 2009. Chairman, Les Betham introduced plans for a new brick-built clubhouse to replace the current Forth "hut". Click here for detailed plan.
Detailed architects' plans for the new clubhouse have been drawn-up, however, North Tyneside Council who are in the process of reviewing all the parks under their jurisdiction, will not consider development plans until their in-depth review of Souter Park and the Churchill Playing fields in 2011.
![]() The new clubhouse will be built to the right of the present hut. It is proposed that the new clubhouse will occupy some of the space to the right of the current clubhouse, between the Forth hut and the Souter pavilion. This means that it will not overlook the bowling green directly, however, it is intended that the new building will have large corner windows to enable the green to be viewed from the main hall. Members have put forward their views and suggestions, and a finalised plan is ready for submission to the Council for planning permission. When this is secured (hopefully in 2011), grant applications and fund-raising can begin in earnest. It is estimated that building costs will be in the region of £40,000. |
- 6 June 2009: The Whitley Bay Bowling Association Ken Brown Pairs.
The Ken Brown Pairs is an annual competition held on the Forth and Souter bowling greens, open to members of the six bowling clubs which make up the Whitley Bay Bowling Association.
This year's winners were John Burt and Stuart Watts of Seaton Sluice BC. Tommy Clay and Bill Kynoch of Forth were runners-up.
But, the star of the competition was the youngest ever competitor in the Ken Brown: a 10 year old from Seaton Sluice who played lead to his father's skip. The pair did very well in deed: reaching the quarter-finals before they were defeated by the eventual winners.
