- 1 July 2008: Last night vandals smashed two sprinkler heads (one on the Forth green and one on the Souter green) causing in excess of £400 worth of damage to the new watering system in its first week of operation.

It would appear that the sprinkler heads are vunerable during the actual watering process when they are above the ground. The system had been set to start watering the greens at three o'clock in the morning in the, apparently vain, expectation that no-one would be around at this time.
At the suggestion of the local Crime Prevention Officer, the clubs have changed watering system's timer and are exploring the possibility of CCTV cameras.
Par 4 (see 26 May below) are expected to return next week to repair the damage.
- 18 June 2008: Tommy still winning!
Tommy McMullen (Our worthy club champion!) beat Norman Keith of Gosforth Garden Village by 23 shots to 14 to win his NCBA Champion of Champions match. He is now in the quarter finals.
Go Tommy, Go!!
- 2 June 2008: Tommy wins again!
Tommy McMullen (He certainly is a busy
bowler!) won his third round EBA Singles' match against Eric Gustard of High Heaton BC.
Rock-on, Tommy!!
- Tommy McMullen beat Bill Caithness of Rockcliffe in the second round of the NCBA Champion of Champions Competition. He is due to play the third round at home on the 18th June.
Well done and good luck, Tommy!
- The Forth rink won their group in Stage 1 of the Jubilee Cup held at Willows BC. Stage 2 is due to be played at Summerhill BC on 15th June.
Keep-up the good work, folks!
- Billy Kynoch and Pearson Varty won the Seahouses' three bowl pairs.

- 2 April 2008: Betty Sneap takes on the job of Secretary of Tynemouth and District Bowling Association (TDBA).
At an EGM which preceded the Spring Meeting, Forth's own Betty Sneap accepted the post of Hon. Secretary of the TDBA, filling a vacancy which had existed since the death of Tony Sheasby.
TDBA Treasurer, Ray Robson shows Betty the ropes
Last year, there were no takers for the post of secretary and the Association was forced to run for a whole bowling season without one. Although the Treasurer, Ray Robson and the League Secretary, John Tozer organised the TDBA Leagues and the Rinks Tournament, the popular open competition and the North v South Tyneside challenge match had to be abandoned.
This year, thanks to Betty, we are pleased to announce:
- The Tynemouth Four Bowl Pairs will take place at Tynemouth on 3 August - contact Betty for details.
- The North Tyneside v South Tyneside Challenge Match will run: details are not yet available - we will keep you posted.
Well done and good luck, Betty - Thank you for stepping into the breach.

- 27 March 2008: The Management Committee meets for the first time.
At the request of the new Chairman, Les Betham, the Management Committee met for the very first time! The meeting took place on 27 March at 6.30 pm in the Clubhouse.
Challenge Cup semi-final 2002.
- Management Committee Meeting:
- Finishing touches were put to the draft of a new and more up-to-date club constitution.
- The proposed new watering system was discussed. See below:
- Catering arrangements were considered for the NCBA Challenge Cup semi-final, which is to be hosted by Forth this year. In case you didn't get that, I repeat:
One of the 2008 NCBA Challenge Cup semi-finals (on 12 July at 10.30 am) is to be hosted by Forth BC!
- Forth last hosted the Challenge Cup semi-final on a glorious sunny day six years' ago. On that occasion, the club organised a room and catering at the "Black Horse" so that everyone had a "sit-down" lunch. This time, the ladies plan to put on one of their famous Forth buffets. But, what if it rains? We can't "shoehorn" everyone into the clubhouse, so we are going to have to talk very politely to our neighbouring bowling club, Souter, to see if we can borrow their smart pavilion (the one you can see in the distance in the 2002 semi-final picture).

- 20 February 2008: Proposed new watering system
Thanks to the hard work of Alasdair Bennie of Souter, the two neighbouring bowling clubs, Forth BC and Souter BC are to share a state-of-the-art watering system.
We hope that the new watering system is easier to control than this!
At a meeting between representatives of Souter BC, Forth BC and Sita (a charitable arm of the waste recycling company) the last financial loose ends were tied-up and the major part of the finance is expected to be in place by the end of March. The North Tyneside Mayor's Fund is also providing some of the funding.
Thank you to all those who are making our new watering system possible.
