- Death of Forth life member, Peter Davies:
Much valued Forth elder statesman and life member, Peter Davies, died peacefully on the evening of Thursday, 18th May after a long battle with cancer.
Peter was, for many years, treasurer and financial adviser to the Club. It is thanks to his shrewd investments, that the Forth was able to build a much-needed extension to the clubhouse.
In more recent years, he was an exacting auditor, for which, Martin Bass, his successor was very grateful.
A true friend and an English gentleman of the old school, Peter will
be greatly missed by his fellow Club members.
The funeral service took place at 12.15 pm on Thursday, 25 May
in the Methodist Church, Front Street, Monkseaton,
followed by a cremation at Whitley
Bay Crematorium. Forth members, who attended the service, were very touched
to discover that Peter had decided to be dressed in his Forth
blazer and tie for his funeral.
His friends then attended a buffet at the Ship Inn, Monkseaton.
